SDSL has partnered with SDSU to identify voids and weaknesses in Public Restroom facilities associated with Sports and Engaging Public opportunities. The DEC 2022 SDSU Downtown Public Access Restroom Report is available at the bottom of this page.
In the report the reader will learn that less than half of the 22 downtown public restrooms are truly open access and there are only two 24/7 restroom options providing a total of 9 toilets to an unsheltered population approaching 2,000 individuals in addition to moms with strollers, residents, visitors and the San Diego economic lifeblood, tourists.
SDSL Board Members are actively engaged with community and civic partners to identify the reasons for access of public restroom availability including commitment, financial, site designation and enforcement. SDSL objective is to lead the public discussion promoting health, dignity and restroom accessibility.
In its Sports Programming partnerships, Community, Child Care, Public Spaces and physical and mental health, jobs and economic enhancements and corporate sponsorships, SDSL is prioritizing 24/7, accessible and inviting, safe and secure, public restrooms in the public realm.
